  1. ISS 1102 Self and Society

ISS 1103 Nature and Culture

Students pick one of these two courses, designed to introduce new students to the discussion of critical social issues.

  1. ISS 3010: Introduction to the Social Sciences: This course covers the range of social science fields. The course teaches students to identify critical social issues and evaluate them from within a variety of paradigms.
  1. ISS 3300 Social Research Methods: All ISS majors take this mixed methods research course. Students may also take additional research courses as electives, such as ISS 3930 Introduction to Qualitative Research Methods.
  1. ISS 4935 Senior Seminar in the Social Sciences: This capstone course for graduating seniors allows the student to develop and conduct an original research project within any area of critical social science. The seminar provides an opportunity for students to showcase their research, analytic, writing and oral communication skills.
