Did you know that . . . Fellows Named Bank of America Endowed Professor College of Business Accounting Professor, James Fellows, Ph.D, has been named Endowed Professor in Business for the 2009-2010 academic year. The Bank of America Endowed Professorship in Business was created in 1990 to recognize USF St. Petersburg faculty doing outstanding work in the community. Carvalho-Knighton Honored for Mentorship and Leadership Dr. Kathy Carvalho-Knoghton, assistant professor of chemistry, has been selected as one of the recipients of the 2009 Women's Leadership Awards, an annual awards program sponsored by the system-wide Women's Status Committee. Family Process Selects McHale's Study as Featured Article Dr. James McHale, chair of the Department of Psychology and director of the USF Family Study Center, striking new findings appearing in the latest edition of the journal Family Process revealed that 3-month-old infants can engage in coordinated interactions with two adults simultaneously - significantly earlier than previously thought. And, that their capacity to do so is linked to the patterns of early co-parenting shown by their parents. Named to the Editorial Board Dr. Narciso J. Hidalgo, assistant professor in Spanish in the Division of World Languages Education, presented a paper at the 1st Annual Conference of Afro-Latin American Studies, March 12 - 14, 2009, at Clark Atlanta University and was asked to serve on the editorial board of the Negritud: Journal of Afro-Latin American Studies Freedom Riders Documentary Receives $1 Million Grant Dr. Raymond Arsenault, the John Hope Franklin Professor of Southern History and author of the award-winning book, Freedom Riders: 1961 and the Struggle for Justice. The national Endowment for the Human ties awarded $1 million to WGBH Boston for the production of an American Experience documentary based on Dr. Arsenault's book. Durand Selected to Edit Psychology Journal Dr. V. Mark Durand, Professor of Psychology, has been named co-editor of the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions where he has been a consulting editor since 1999. Brice Receives Honor for Multicultural Contributions Dr. Alejandro Brice, Associate Professor of Secondary Education and English for Speakers of Other Languages, received the Certificate of Recognition for Special Contributions in Multicultural Affairs from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The Association has more than 130,000 members. Schmidt Earns Hall of Fame Status at Alma Mater Dr. Martina Schmidt, instructor of finance, was inducted into the Florida Atlantic University Athletic Hall of Fame and honored at the university's football game on Saturday, November 8, 2008. .
