On this date at approximately 0010 hours, a non-USF affiliate male caused a disturbance in the lobby at the USF Police Services station, causing the on-duty communications officer to call for law enforcement assistance. The subject left the lobby, but was located by USFPD Officer Ada Bell a short distance away. When Officer Bell initiated contact with the subject, he struck her in the chest. USFPD Officer Ron Smith arrived on scene as well, after which the subject continued to actively resist the officers until he was restrained and handcuffed. The subject sustained minor injuries and was transported to Bayfront Hospital. Neither officer sustained any injuries.
After the subject was identified, it was found that he had been previously issued a trespass warning from the USF St. Petersburg Campus.
Case cleared with arrest for Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting with Violence, and Trespass after Warning.
