The purpose of crime alert bulletins is to inform campus citizens of incidents or activities occurring in the community which may pose a threat to their safety and security.

ATTENTION:

ATTEMPT CAR JACKING

(OFF CAMPUS/6 th AVE S)

On 11/24/03, the St. Petersburg Police Department reported that an attempted car jacking occurred at approximately 8:40pm in front of the Florida Center for Teachers on 6 th Street South.

The victim was a female student. She was in her vehicle, and was approached by four African American males who asked for the time. As she was responding, one of the subjects struck her in the face and demanded she exit the vehicle. She refused, and drove away. The subjects then ran east towards 1 st St. South. The subjects ranged from approximately 12 to 17 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, and all had close-cropped hair. They were reportedly all wearing dark colored shorts and white T-shirts.

Persons having information about ANY criminal incidents or who see ANY suspicious activity on campus, are encouraged to IMMEDIATELY contact the University Police at 553-4140.
