A Message from the Dean
It is truly an honor to serve as Dean of the Kate Tiedemann College of Business, having joined the USFSP team last summer. The opening of the highly-anticipated Lynn Pippenger Hall, the new home for the College, is a pivotal milestone in our history. I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the legislature and the donors who have made this dream a reality.
The Kate Tiedemann College of Business is grounded in student success. Through foundational education (KNOW), experiential application of knowledge (DO) and a commitment to student professional development (BE), we are investing in the next generation of business leaders.
Lynn Pippenger Hall brings together students, faculty and staff, allowing for an “engaged” educational experience. Active learning spaces allow students to interface with state-of-the-art technology and promote collaborative learning. Signature learning spaces include the Wealth Management Center (Finance), Consumer Insight Lab (Marketing) and Active Learning Lab (Entrepreneurship).
The building also unifies our student support services, allowing for a holistic approach to student success. The Undergraduate Programs Office serves as a “one-stop shop” for all KTCOB student-related academic services. It also offers Career Services to students, including internship opportunities and guidelines in career preparedness. The Graduate Programs and Executive Education Office supports students in our nationally-ranked MBA program and the growing MAcc program. It also caters to the needs of the business community by developing relevant non-degree programs.
The Kate Tiedemann College of Business will play a key role in the region’s economic development through its academic programs and community outreach. Intentional spaces in Lynn Pippenger Hall that are focused on strengthening community engagement include the Collaboration Terrace, Auditorium and the Community Board Rooms. We’ll begin a “Speaker Series” later this year, host “Start-Up Pitches” for funding, and invite our community partners to host their own meetings in our Board Rooms.
Our new home is truly inspiring and will push us to be more, dream bigger and maintain a future-forward approach in our teaching and learning. I invite you to engage with us as we build a lasting legacy in serving the needs of our students, businesses, and the community with the level of excellence that has come to represent the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.
Sridhar Sundaram, Dean
