Florida Humanities Council Seeks Communications Intern

The Florida Humanities Council (FHC) is a statewide nonprofit who mission is to support Florida’s cultural organizations. FHC seeks a qualified individual to assist the Director of Communications in an array of special projects that enhance the message and work of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Communications, the intern may engage in the following projects:

  • Assist with writing and revising copy for FHC’s website
  • Designing and implementing a social media campaign for one or more of FHC’s programs
  • Planning and implementing a general social media strategy for the Florida Humanities Council
  • Assist with FHC’s legislative outreach strategy
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to communications


  • Background in a humanities discipline, English, communications, or journalism
  • Superior writing skills and excellent grasp of grammatical rules
  • Research and copyediting abilities
  • Detail-oriented and ability to meet deadlines
  • Creativity with social media content and willingness to work in the context of FHC’s digital communications guidelines


  • Able to commit to an internship for the duration of the current semester
  • Ability to work at least eight hours per week
  • Flexibility to accommodate a student’s schedule

Training Provided:

Interns will have an opportunity to receive professional feedback on work as a communicator in the non-profit sector. Additional opportunities include site visits to ongoing FHC projects.

Benefits to Intern:

  • Hands-on work experience
  • Stipend or course credit hours. FHC will work in conjunction with a professor to ensure course credit is received for the internship
