Welcome to the Academic Learning Compact (ALC) Homepage
What are ALCs?
In 2004, the Florida Board of Governors resolved that universities, through their boards of trustees, would establish guidelines and procedures for the development and implementation of Academic Learning Compacts (ALCs) to ensure student achievement in baccalaureate degree programs in the State University System (see #PG 05.02.15).
ALCs articulate a mission statement for each degree program in support of their college's mission and these documents identify expected program/department outcomes, describe assessment strategies including criteria for success, and report the use of results for improvement of the academic program/department. The Academic Learning Compacts at USFSP include assessment of student learning in content/discipline skills, communication skills, critical thinking skills, and civic engagement.
Review of ALCs
Each year, the Planning, Effectiveness and Budget Committee (PEBC) reviews Academic Learning Compacts (ALCs) using an evaluation tool (click here to download ALC review form) and provides academic programs/departments with feedback for use as they update their ALCs for subsequent years.
To view academic program/department ALCs and the feedback provided to them by the PEBC, "click" on the academic program/department name listed below.
