On Feb. 24, St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman recognized Sodexo at USF St. Petersburg for its partnership with Placement Works, a nonprofit organization that connects individuals with disabilities with businesses and other organizations for employment. Sodexo, which provides dining services in The Reef at the USFSP University Student Center, has partnered with Placement Works for three years and has hired five individuals with disabilities.

“During the last five years at USFSP, we have learned the significance of working and partnering with the local community,” said Louis Duran, dining services manager at Sodexo, who said he was honored by the recognition. Duran, who has been with Sodexo at USFSP since 2012, was presented with a plaque in recognition for Sodexo’s completion of the Placement Works’ challenge and for pledging to hire at least one person with a disability within a year.

“I want to thank my senior supervisor, Kathy Swann, for spearheading this project and mentoring the new employees from Placement Works to guarantee their success,” said Duran.
