Hamilton Appointed New USFSP Campus Board Member
Lawrence Hamilton, executive coach and adjunct faculty with the Center for Creative Leadership affiliate at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, has been appointed to a four-year term on the University of South Florida St. Petersburg (USFSP) Campus Board.
“I am honored and I’m humbled to join the USF St Petersburg Campus Board,” said Hamilton. “Higher education is the cornerstone of any successful community, not only in what it provides economically, but also in what it provides in thought, change and community growth. USFSP is an exciting hub and a great source of positive energy. I’m happy to be a small part of it.”
Hamilton received a B.A. from Fisk University and an MPA in Labor Policy from The University of Alabama where he was an American Political Science Association funded Fellow. He also received an Ed.S. degree in Human Resource Development from George Washington University. Prior to becoming an HR Consultant, Hamilton was senior vice president, Worldwide Human Resources for the Clearwater-based Tech Data Corporation for more than 12 years.
Hamilton currently serves on the NASBA Center for Public Trust Board of Directors and previously served as chair, compensation committee and a member of the Board of Directors for HomeBanc Mortgage, Inc. and Wright Medical, Inc. He also is a co-founder of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources, past president of the INROADS/Tampa Bay, Inc. Policy Board of Directors, and was a governor-appointed member of the PRIDE, Inc. Board of Directors.
“I am delighted to have Mr. Hamilton join the USFSP Campus Board,” said Stephanie Goforth, chair of the board and member of the USF Board of Trustees. “His background in policy and human resources will only strengthen our board’s service to the university and to the community.”
The USFSP Campus Board provides guidance and advisement on the efficient operation and improvement of the campus. Hamilton joins current board members Stephanie Goforth, Bob Churuti, Judy Mitchell and John Connelly.
The next meeting of the USFSP Campus Board is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17 in the University Student Center Ballroom.
