More than 100 Bay Area students attended this year's GIS Olympiad Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the USF St. Petersburg Campus Activities Center to celebrate National GIS Day. Led by their Social Studies Teacher Ms. Donna Kroegel, seventy-five Plant High School students competed in a GIS Olympiad of interactive activities and a Campus Treasure Hunt. The GIS Olympiad included Google Earth Riddle Gymnastics, American Frontier Fencing, Greco Roman Puzzle Wrestling, ASD Archery, Arc Explorer Athletics, Native American Map Lacrosse and an award ceremony. During the treasure hunt, students used coordinates for locations across campus to find the treasure. USF St. Petersburg graduate students facilitated the activities.
