Family Study Center

Welcome to the Family Study Center at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.

The Family Study Center at USF St. Petersburg, directed by Dr. James McHale, is the home of both basic and applied research studies concerned with understanding, supporting, and advocating for families with young children. Since its inception, the Family Study Center has been a base for innovative new projects and initiatives to support coparenting and children’s development.

Our research is designed to provide new directions to enable the healthy development of children and families in Pinellas and in neighboring Florida counties; to provide a national model for family-sensitive supports; and to advocate for better and fully inclusive practices, policies, and laws.

This website is designed to be helpful to families, students, researchers, clinicians, and other professionals interested in families.
