Andrew Hayslip |
I am interested in biogeography, environmental geography, watershed management, the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint river basin, urban and regional planning, and sustainable development. I'm a first year master's student in the Environmental Science and Policy program. I'm from Macon, Georgia and I received my bachelor's in Geography with a minor in Urban and Regional Planning from Florida State University.

Ben Hardisty |
Benjamin Hardisty received the B.A. in Political Science, with a specialization in Political Theory, from USF after spending several years reading philosophy books and sociobiology textbooks and drinking an insane number of cappuccinos. He is now working on his M.S. thesis entitled "Investigations of the Natural Selection and Spread of Altruistic-Type Gene Alleles." His major research interests are in evolutionary biology and theoretical biology. These include: fire ants, a serious invasive pest that nonetheless has given Mr. Hardisty hours of fruitful research data; Sex-Ratio theory and the modification of sex-ratios by organisms, especially mammals and insects; altruism in insects and the search for genes that actively promote altruistic behaviors in their bearer (when expressed); and finally, mathematical modeling in evolutionary biology & ecology. |

Britni Tokotch |
I received my undergrad degree from USFSP in Environmental Science and Policy. This is my second year in the ESP Graduate Program. For my master's thesis, I am working with Dr. Gore on creating habitat suitability curves for the invasive Plecostomus (a fresh water invasive fish). I currently work with the National Marine Fisheries Service helping to regulate commercial fisheries in federal waters of the Southeastern United States.

I am particularly interested in estuarine and wetland ecology how anthropogenic interactions have impacted these systems, then applying population monitoring and collected data to protect habitat. Sustainable development (LEED certifications, renewable energy, creatively designing and planning to minimize human impact) and sustainable agriculture (organic, no-monoculture, culture retention for agro-based groups) are other interests of mine.

I am interested in local and regional weather processes, hurricanes, climate change, and GIS. I received my Bachelor's in Geography from Florida State University. I currently work for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute and enjoy every minute of it. My thesis revolves around studying the rainfall patterns that are due to dominant wind patterns here in Pinellas county. I am working with Charlie Paxton from the National Weather Service, and Dr. Jennifer Collins from the USF Tampa campus, and I am honored to study under both of them! |

My academic interests include everything ecological from the coastline to the interior of Florida. I, particularly, would like to the study the advancement of the Cuban Treefrog and possible control methods as a way to preserve the native fauna. |

I obtained Bsc. at University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Jamaica. I am a graduate student pursuing a degree in Environmental Science and Policy, with a keen interest in the impact of International transshipment procedure and subsequent consequence(s) , as well the impact and efficiency of businesses' environmental policy/ policies on neighbouring communities.

I received my Bachelor's from Xavier University, in Cincinnati, Ohio, where I specialized in Early Childhood Education with a Minor in Spanish. I was recruited to St. Petersburg to teach science and co-write the curriculum at a magnet elementary school, where I fell in love with the unique ecology of Florida. I am interested in studying ways to reconnect students to their environment, and ways to integrate technological advances in urban development and curriculum to address the Environmental Deficit Phenomenon facing our community's young
people. It is my hope that this project will address the feasibility of a new EcoAcademy that, not only minimizes ecological impact, but maximizes student achievement through meaningful experiences with their environment. |

I received my Bachelor’s in Anthropology from USF St. Petersburg. I am interested in a number of issues related to human-environment interactions including; community gardening, sustainability, the social construction (and commodification) of nature, environmental justice, and political ecology. My thesis examines the Florida state park system through a comparative analysis of insider and outsider perceptions of park quality and the attendance experience |

I received my undergraduate at USF in the ESP program. I was impressed by the faculty and staff, and decided to pursue my graduate degree in this program. I intend to do my thesis work on setting up standards for water quality of Florida's estuaries. I will be working directly with Dr. Chris D'Elia, who has an extensive background in water quality issues here in Florida, namely looking at N and P over-enrichment. |

I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stetson University in Deland, FL. My interests are how anthropogenic uses affect natural environments and the whether environmental regulations promote sustainable ecosystems. My thesis will pertain to undisturbed wetland buffers and whether current development regulations promote sustainable wetlands in terms of density and diversity of wildlife. |
