Criminology Student Association

CSA Logo

The Criminology Student Association (CSA) was founded in 2002 with the purpose of offering students the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the criminal justice system and employment opportunities within the system. Involvement in the CSA is a great activity for criminology students.

The CSA typically meets once per month. These meeting may include guest speakers from various aspects of the system, as well as speakers to inform students about internships, graduate school, and even law school. Additional activities have, in the past, included tours of the local county jail and a state prison, as well as a K-9 demonstration by the St. Petersburg Police Department. Fundraising activities and volunteer opportunities are also a part of the CSA.

The CSA is also a way to gain leadership experience in the college environment. Elections for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer are held annually. Joining the CSA is a great way to become actively engaged in university life. To join visit the Student Organization section in Blackboard and search for the Criminology Student Association.

Monday, March 21st @ 5:00 CSA Meeting (DAV 219)--Guest Speaker TBA
Friday, March 25th--Prison Tour #1 (This tour is already filled).
Wednesday, April 6 @ 4:00--Tour of the National Forensic & Technology Center in Largo. Must be signed up for this tour. Contact Nate Williams to sign up.
Thursday, April 21--Prison Tour #2 (Space is very limited. Must be 21 or older to attend. Background checks are completed by D.O.C. Must be signed up in advance for this event).
Monday, April 25th @ 5:00 CSA Meeting (DAV 219)--End of the semester celebration and appointment of officers for 2011-2012.
