John J. Conlon, PhD
Education Ph.D. in English, Tufts University Biography John J. Conlon is retired from the University of Massachusetts at Boston where he taught in the English Department and the Theatre Arts Department, served as Director of Theatre Programs, Chair of Theatre Arts, and Associate Chair of Performing Arts. He has appeared locally at American Stage, The Gulfport Community Players, The Studio @ 620, and The Saint Petersburg Little Theatre where he is President of the Board of Directors. He also founded the St Pete Shakespeare Project in 2005. Publications include Walter Pater and the French Tradition (Associated University Presses, 1982), four produced plays, four dozen scholarly essays, including Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice (2007) and a biography of Vaclav Havel (2008) and over eighty book reviews. TeachingCourses at USF-SP include Western Literature through the Renaissance, Western Literature since the Renaissance, Modern Drama, Recent British Drama, The Image of Women in Literature, Late Shakespeare, Women and Drama, Introduction to Drama, Chaucer, and Studies in Middle English
