Search Announcement

The University of South Florida System announces a nationwide search to recruit a new Regional Chancellor for USF St. Petersburg.

Located on beautiful Bayboro Harbor on the shores of Tampa Bay, USF St. Petersburg was established in 1965. In 2006, USF St. Petersburg was accredited as a separate entity within the University of South Florida System by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Today, the University serves over 6,000 students and awards degrees in nearly 35 disciplines at the bachelor’s and master’s levels. Academic programs are delivered through three colleges – Arts & Sciences, Business, and Education.

Reporting directly to the President of the System, the Regional Chancellor is the chief executive officer of USF St. Petersburg. The Office of the Regional Chancellor has the all-encompassing goal of ensuring the overall excellence of USF St. Petersburg. Regional vice chancellors, associate vice chancellors, deans and directors comprise the Regional Chancellor’s Leadership Team.

It is expected that the next Regional Chancellor will be a person of strategic vision who understands and appreciates the mission and culture of this student-centered, intimate institution often referred to as the “Jewel by the Sea.”

The best candidates for this post will have unquestioned integrity, exemplary communication and interpersonal skills, a consensus-building leadership style, and a passion for preparing students for positive lives and careers.

The University of South Florida System is a young and emerging system that includes three institutions: USF Tampa; USF St. Petersburg; and USF Sarasota-Manatee. Each of these institutions has a distinct mission, its own detailed strategic plan, and is individually accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The University of South Florida St. Petersburg is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer. This search is being conducted in accordance with Florida’s Government-in-the-Sunshine Law.
