USF St. Petersburg Sailing
The Sailing Team is a member of the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (SAISA). The team’s home for training and regattas, is the Haney Landing Sailing Center, located at USF St. Petersburg, and just a short sail to Tampa Bay. Our roster has between 40 and 50 student athletes. We practice Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm until dark, Wednesdays from 8:00am until 10:00am and race in regattas on weekends through the fall and spring semesters. All full-time undergraduate students at USF St. Petersburg are welcome to join the team.
Current team members range from national champions in junior sailing to novice crews who are learning the sport. Beyond our Florida resident student-athletes, many team members originally from the Northeast and Midwest choose USF St Petersburg. The weather in St. Petersburg can’t be beat! The winters are mild with average temperatures in the sixties with windy and warm fall and spring semesters.
