USFSP Campus Recreation operated as a collaborative effort between student staff and professional staff

Our goal is to provide each participant a safe and comfortable environment to ensure all participants achieve their personal recreation, health and wellness goals.

We are looking for USFSP Students who:

      • Hold a valid American Red Cross CPR, AED & First Aid Certification

Entry Level Positions (Training/Certifications Provided)

Member Services Assistant

Positions: SLC Fitness Center & Coquina

Starting Pay: $8.05/hr

Expectations: Provide excellent customer service; Focuses on safety of all Campus Recreation patrons (i.e. assessment of patron attire, confirmation of correct USFSP ID and confirmation of medical waiver information); Approachable and personable to all entering and exiting facilities; Possesses the ability to take initiative

Summer Camp Counselor

Positions: Splash Camp & Recreation Camp

Starting Pay: Based on Certifications & Experience

Expectations: Actively participate and supervise the overall daily camp operations in conjunction with other counselor staff. Effectively lead a group of up to 30 children in a variety of games, activities, field trips, and special events.  Work in a highly collaborative group setting to develop and administer a consistent method to enforce camp guidelines and procedures. Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all staff and participants.

Competitive Sports Assistant

Positions: Sports Official, Score Keeper & Sport Supervisor

Starting Pay: $8.05/hr

Expectations: Have a passion for team activity; Committed to sportsmanship and encourage fair play; Safety is a number one concern for all participants; Plans healthy competition from start to finish

Facilities (Fitness Center) Assistant

Positions: SLC Fitness Center

Starting Pay: $8.05/hr

Expectations: Focuses on the safety of all Campus Recreation patrons (i.e. lifting form, safety of facility and equipment, and execution of correct first responder behaviors); Possesses the ability to take initiative; Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the SLC Fitness center and all fitness equipment

Facilities (Boathouse) Assistant

Positions: Boathouse

Starting Pay: $8.05/hr

Expectations: The Facilities (Boathouse) team focuses on the safe operation of all recreational watercraft including sailboats, paddle boards, canoes and kayaks. Each team member is responsible for identifying unsafe equipment, facility organization and cleanliness, customer service, monitoring weather, enforicing policies, and promoting a positive enviroment for all participants.

Advanced Level Positions (Training/Certifications Required)

Personal Trainer

Locations: SLC Fitness Center

Starting Pay: Based on Certifications & Experience

Expectations: A Personal Trainer is responsible for tailoring a plan to specifically meet the needs and goals of their client. They are to lead the client and ensure they meet their exercise goals by providing hands-on education and support while providing a safe and fun learning environment.

Required Certifications: Personal Training Certification (i.e. ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NASM, etc.)

Group Fitness Instructor

Location: SLC Fitness Center

Starting Pay: Based on Certifications and Experience

Expectations: A Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for the leading multiple group fitness classes that range in variety and levels from Yoga to Cardio Dance to Toning and Strength. This includes counting, cueing, organizing choreography, while providing a safe and fun environment for each participant.

Required Certifications: Primary Group Fitness Certification, ZUMBA, Yoga, etc.

Watercraft Instructor

Locations: Waterfront Boathouse

Starting Pay: Based on Certifications and Experience

Expectations: Focused on aspects of teaching paddle sports, dinghy sailing, keelboat sailing, basic power boating and leading adventure trips. Instructors are expected to be excellent risk managers and have strong communication skills.

Required Certifications: American Canoe Association Instructor, US Sailing Level 1 Instructor, US Power Boating Instructor, etc.

Swim Instructor

Location: Coquina Pool

Starting Pay: Based on Certifications and Experience

Expectations: Focus on the safety and education of swim lesson participants (i.a. proper swimming technique, endurance, and general water safety topics); Possesses the ability to lead and instruct others; Possesses the ability to work in fast-paced situations as needed

Required Certifications: Water Safety Instruction (i.e. American Red Cross or YMCA)

Lifeguard

Location: Coquina Pool

Starting Pay: Based on Certifications and Experience

Expectations: Focuses on the safety of all Campus Recreation patrons (i.e. monitoring users within and outside the pool, execution of correct first responder behaviors); Possesses the ability to work in fast-paced situations as needed; Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of Coquina Pool and equipment

Required Certifications: Lifeguard Certification (i.e. American Red Cross or YMCA)
