USF St. Petersburg will sponsor general election forums for St. Petersburg Mayoral and City Council candidates this month at City Council Chambers.

College of Arts and Sciences Dean Frank Biafora, Ph.D. will moderate the forums, which are free and open to the public. USF St. Petersburg is sponsoring the forums at the request of the St. Petersburg City Council. The university sponsored similar forums in August in advance of the city primary elections.

Political Science Professor Judithanne Scourfield McLauchlan, Ph.D. will coordinate questions submitted by USFSP government students, the university community and the public.

The Mayoral Candidates Forum will be Monday, Oct. 14, featuring Bill Foster and Rick Kriseman. The City Council Candidates Forum will be Wednesday, Oct. 16, featuring candidates in Districts 2, 4, 6, and 8.

City Council candidates on the ballot are:

  • District 2 – James R. “Jim” Kennedy and Lorraine Margeson
  • District 4 – Carolyn Fries and Darden Rice
  • District 6 – Karl Nurse and Sharon Russ
  • District 8 – Amy Foster and Steve Galvin

Both forums will be shown live on the city’s government access channel, StPeteTV, and streamed live at www.stpete.org. USFSP sponsored similar forums in August before the city primary elections.

The general elections are Nov.5.
