USF St. Petersburg to host City Council candidates forum

USF St. Petersburg will host a primary election forum for St. Petersburg City Council candidates running in Districts 4, 6, and 8 on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chamber at City Hall, 175 Fifth St. N.

The forum will be moderated by Frank Biafora, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and will be broadcast live on the city’s government access channel, StPeteTV, and streamed live at www.stpete.org.

The public is welcome to attend. Seating in Council Chamber is first come, first served.

Candidates will answer pre-screened questions submitted by USFSP government students, the university community and the public.

In District 4, the candidates are Carolyn Ann Fries, Dr. David McKalip, Darden Janell Rice, and Richard Donald Eldridge. In District 6, the candidates are Sharon Russ, incumbent Karl J. Nurse and Trevor L. Mallory. And in District 8, the candidates are Alexander C. Duensing, Amy Elizabeth Foster, Robert J. Davis and Steve Michael Galvin. Davis is unable to participate in the forum.

On August 15, USFSP will host a forum for mayoral candidates. That forum also begins at 6 p.m. and will be held in the City Council Chamber at City Hall. It will be broadcast live on StPeteTV and streamed live at www.stpete.org. The forums will be replayed periodically until the August 27 primary and Nov. 5 elections.
