The 2013 state budget passed by the Florida Legislature and signed by Gov. Rick Scott includes $5 million to build a home for the USF St. Petersburg College of Business.

Pinellas County lawmakers were instrumental in securing funding for the project, which drew broad community support. Students from the USFSP College of Business traveled to Tallahassee in February urge legislators to fund the building.

The USF System Board of Trustees and the USFSP Campus Board designated the Piano Man Building, 701 Third Street South, as the site of the new building.

The St. Petersburg architecture firm Harvard Jolly will design the building.
