The University of South Florida St. Petersburg has partnered with Pasco-Hernando Community College to offer students the chance to earn a degree from the College of Business at the PHCC West Campus in New Port Richey.
The new partnership allows PHCC students to complete their junior and senior years with USFSP and earn a bachelor’s degree in eight different business programs: accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, global business, information systems, management or marketing. The USFSP College of Business also offers minors in several areas such as health care management and legal studies, for students interested in pursuing a law degree.
“We’re very excited about this new partnership with PHCC,” said Maling Ebrahimpour, USFSP College of Business dean. “Demand for four-year business degree programs is high, underscoring the need to provide the four-year business degree to the residents of Pasco and Hernando counties. The USFSP College of Business will be providing a much needed service to the Pasco and Hernando communities as the only public university servicing the need of the citizens in these two counties.”
“We have seen a tremendous interest in the program and expect to have strong enrollment for the summer. We anticipate rapid growth once face-to-face traditional classes begin in the Fall Term in August,” said Valerie Lanham, admissions/academic advisor, USFSP/PHCC University Partnership.
“Students enrolling in the upper level business courses can now earn bachelor’s degrees in business affordably and close to home,” said Burt Harres, Ph.D., PHCC West Campus provost and vice president of instruction.
“The business community also is enthusiastic about the partnership,” said Harres. “Local employers anticipate hiring well educated and trained business graduates—many of whom wish to continue to reside and work in Pasco and Hernando counties.”
Other prospective students interested in the business program can also apply. Credentials, among other requirements, include an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree. Those students that need to complete degree requirements may do so at PHCC before applying to the USFSP program.
USFSP is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission of Colleges within the University of South Florida System. The USFSP College of Business is accredited by AACSB International — the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
