Dec. 7 meeting set to narrow applicant pool for regional chancellor

The Regional Chancellor Search Advisory Committee will meet Dec. 7 to narrow the pool of applicants.

The goal is to emerge from the meeting with about 10 candidates, who will then be interviewed in January, said committee Chairman Frank Biafora, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

“This is a critical meeting,’’ Biafora said. “It’s probably the most important meeting of the advisory group so far.”

The deadline for applications is Friday, Nov. 30. The 18 committee members will have a week to review all the applicants before presenting his or her own unranked top 10 candidate list at the Dec. 7 meeting. The intent is to emerge from the meeting with a consensus on the top ten, Biafora said.

Those candidates will be interviewed by the committee during a series of meetings in January at Tampa International Airport. The committee then plans to narrow the pool of candidates to three finalists, who will be invited to the university for further interviews and public presentations.

The Dec. 7 meeting will be from 9 a.m. to noon in Davis 130.
