Apply now for admissions this spring!
Admission Requirements - Transfer
If you've earned 12 or more credits at another college or university, you can easily transfer to USF St. Petersburg. Students with fewer than 12 credits to transfer are considered First Time in College applicants. You may also want to view our degrees offered to learn about pre-requisites and GPA requirements.
Transfer Students with fewer than 60 hours
- Students with 12 or more but less than 30 transferable hours = Cumulative Post-secondary GPA >= 2.0 while being in good standing from the last institution attended, AND need to meet USFSP FTIC scale with HS information (SAT /ACT/GPA, Units) except for selective admissions programs requiring higher standards as noted below.
- Students with 30 or more but less than 60 transferable hours= Cumulative Post-secondary GPA >= 2.0 while being in good standing at the last institution attended AND need to meet DOE FTIC scale with HS information (SAT and or ACT/GPA, Units) except for selective admissions programs requiring higher standards as noted above.
- Students with fewer than 12 transferable hours = for the purpose of admissions, orientation and scholarship consideration, an applicant is considered an FTIC student unless the applicant has attempted 12 or more college-level credits after graduation from high school. Credits earned through dual enrollment or by exams will be used to determine class standing after matriculation but do not confer transfer status in the admissions process.
USF St. Petersburg will accept applicants with between 12-59 transferable semester credit hours as lower level transfers who must meet all freshman and transfer requirements. They must submit:
- Application for admission
- Non-refundable $30 application fee
- Official high school transcript
- SAT or ACT scores on the official high school transcript or sent directly to USF by the testing agency
- Official transcript from each college or university attended (current up to time of application)
Transfer Students with AA or articulated AS degrees OR with 60 hours or more and no degree
- 2.0 GPA (except for selective admissions programs (e.g., education, graphic design, business, journalism) which require a higher GPA).
USF St. Petersburg accepts transfer credit from institutions that are regionally accredited at the time credits are earned or courses approved for transfer by the Statewide Course Numbering System (SCNS) from non-regionally accredited institutions.
Students who will enter USF St. Petersburg with 60 or more transferable semester credit hours must submit:
- Application for admission
- Non-refundable $30 application fee
- Official transcript from each college or university attended (current up to time of application)
Students who expect to earn an A. A. degree should apply at least one semester prior to completing the degree and submit a partial transcript to USF. Admission to the University with an A. A. degree does not guarantee admission to limited access programs or majors.
